Hickey, Nankivell and Cairns to represent Scotland at the British Athletics Cross Challenge in Stirling

Ross-shire athletes have been called up to the Scotland squad to compete at the British Athletics Cross Challenge in Stirling next month.

Strathpeffer athlete Hamish Hickey will win his fourth Scottish vest when he runs in the under-23 men’s race on January 11.

Tain athlete Constance Nankivell will also compete when she runs in the under-23 women’s race.

Fortrose teenager Lucas Cairns has also been called up to represent his country when he runs in the under-17 race.

They join Kirkhill athlete Mhairi Maclennan running in the senior race and Megan Keith from Inverness in the under-20 event.

It will be adopted home advantage for Hickey, who is currently studying film, media and sport studies at the University of Stirling.

Hickey started his athletics career at Ross County Athletics Club and is currently training with Central Athletic Club while studying at university.
