Invergordon manager Gary Campbell is expecting a tough match when his side travel to Bonar Bridge in the North Caledonian League tomorrow.

It is early days in the season, but Invergordon have quickly marked out their title credentials with victories in each of their first two league matches against Alness United and Loch Ness – although they did go out of the Football Times Cup.

Bonar Bridge, meanwhile, started well with four points from their matches against Alness Untied and St Duthus, before losing heavily to early pace-setters Halkirk United last time out, so Campbell believes his side will have to perform.

“We had a good result on Saturday, but a poor result the week before,” he said.

“We need to make sure we’re playing well, because they have had a great start for them.

“It won’t be an easy game. I’m sure they will be confident, because although they got beat last week, they’ve had good results and come back after being down.

“It’s obviously a great team spirit they’ve got, so it definitely won’t be an easy game for us at all.

“Every game is going to be tough, so we’ll need to make sure we’re at our best to get a result.”

Invergordon are expected to be in title contention come the end of the season, but Campbell suspects it could be one of the most open title races in years.

“There won’t be any easy games, I think, this year, so we need to make sure we keep on trying to win every game,” Campbell said.

“There are a lot of teams in there that are going to be quite competitive.

“I think this year it will end up with four or five teams going for the top of the league.

“I might be wrong, but there are definitely a few capable of winning it this year.”

Ahead of tomorrow’s match Campbell will make a late call on the fitness of prolific goalscorer Darran Goller, who has been missing with a hip injury in recent weeks.
