Tain teenager Isabella Fioretti claims record-breaking seven prizes at Highland Boxing Academy end of year awards for 2023/24 season

Tain teenager Isabella Fioretti broke a Highland Boxing Academy record by sweeping up seven of their 2023/24 end of season awards.

There have been dominant showing at the ceremonies in years gone by, including from Alness athlete Ewan Gliniecki, but nobody has won so many awards in a single season.

It is a mark of how successful Fioretti’s debut competitive campaign has been, including two victories over British champions and earning a call-up to represent Scotland.

While HBA head coach Liam Foy has previously sung the youngster’s praises, the domination of club awards is the latest sign of how impressive Fioretti has been.

“Isabella mopped up with seven awards in the end – six that she won on her own, and one that she shared with Maria Cameron,” Foy explained.

“Lindsay Fulton did quite well last year, and Ewan Gliniecki might have won four or five one year, but seven awards is definitely a record for the club.

“One of the awards she won was for our best newcomer, where we look at novices.

“Isabella is still a novice on paper, because she’s only had four fights, but the quality and level of the opponents she’s beaten is brilliant.

“She has beaten a former GB champion and the GB champion at a weight above. It just speaks volumes for how much of a talent she is.

“There is real substance to the titles that she has won and her achievements this season, moving up a weight twice and beating the opponents she has to become a British champion. It’s really high-level stuff.

“I would be pleasantly surprised if we ever have someone accomplish what she had accomplished in their first competitive season as a boxer. It will be really hard for any boxer to finish the season with the Golden Gloves, British title, Box Cup titles and Scotland Cups while beating the calibre of opponents she has beaten along the way.”

Fioretti claimed the awards for youth/senior people's champ, female boxer of the season, best newcomer, KO King/Queen, critics' choice and youth/senior fight of the season, as well as sharing the international caps award with Maria Cameron.

Cameron was also named HBA’s female ambassador of the season.

Kian Stewart won three prizes of his own: the hot streak award for most consecutive wins (six), the schools/junior people’s champ and schoolboy boxer of the season.

Robert Stewart doubled up, being named junior boxer of the season as well as taking the seasoned boxer prize for most bouts (13).

Henry Leitch earned the school/junior fight of the season prize, while Brodie Zineldin was named youth boxer of the season.

The most improved award went to Alexander Russell, and Alex Mihalkins won the male ambassador prize.

Emma Miller won the best senior boxer award, and there was also a special award given to David Rothnie for outstanding contribution to Highland Boxing Academy.
