STRIKER Jordan White admitted Ross County were not good enough as they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup fourth round by Livingston.

The Staggies fell at the first hurdle for the sixth consecutive time in the competition as they lost 3-2 after extra time with Andrew Shinnie scoring the winner in the 119th minute.

The result means Ross County have not won a game in the Scottish Cup since 2019 when they defeated Motherwell 2-1 at Fir Park.

Of the six games Ross County have lost in the Scottish Cup, five of those matches were against teams that were playing in the Championship. They include Ayr United in 2020, Caley Thistle in 2021, Hamilton Academical in 2023, Partick Thistle in 2024 and Livingston twice, including where they were a Premiership team in 2022.

White says while he had full respect for Livingston, says it is always disappointing to go out of a competition to lower league opposition.

He said: “There is no dressing it up, we know that it wasn’t good enough.

“We weren’t at it from the word go. It was disappointing, we go behind twice and get ourselves back twice. We are still not playing great but we wanted to give more than we gave. After we got the equalisers we did not kick on from there.

If we couldn’t score, we needed to take the game to penalties and we didn’t do that.

“Regardless of how your form is, you do expect to do better.

For the last few years we have not been good enough in this cup. Whether that is mindset, I don’t know. But there are a lot of players who have played Livingston and we know what they are going to be like. It is disappointing that we are at the wrong end of the result. If we got through, we would have still said it was a bad day at the office.

“But we didn’t get through so we need to take the flack we get from that.”

White says Ross County now have to concentrate on getting back to winning ways when they face Hibernian at the Global Energy Stadium on Saturday and look to stay out of the relegation places.

“After the St Mirren game which we lost, we said there was no point in dwelling on it. After that result we managed to kick on and took a lot of plaudits from that. This was not a good result for the club, without any disrespect to Livingston. They were never going to make it easy for us, but we have to be doing better.”
