The 26-year-old who arrived in Dingwall from Iranian club Tractor Sazi last season has left the Staggies for family reasons.

The club said Erwin informed them he needed to be located closer to the central belt which has been the only factor behind the decision and thus his contract at the Global Energy Stadium has been terminated.

Manager Stuart Kettlewell said: “Lee had come to me and had a very honest conversation in regard to his family situation.

"We are all human and all have various situations going on in our lives and we are very understanding of where he needed to be and like any of us family always has to come first.

"Lee leaves with nothing but the best wishes of me, my staff and the squad.”

It is reported Erwin is on the verge of signing for St Mirren with manager Jim Goodwin confirming he is interested in signing him.
