Robinson links no surprise for Ross County co-manager Kettlewell

Stuart Kettlewell is not surprised to see his opposite number at Motherwell, Stephen Robinson, being linked with other jobs – saying that the Steelmen’s current good form is the culmination of an 18-month project at Fir Park.

The Staggies travel down to North Lanarkshire tomorrow to face a side that has won three games in a row, scoring nine goals in the process.

That has seen Robinson mooted as a potential successor to the under-pressure Hearts boss, Craig Levein, who has overseen a poor start to the campaign that sees the Jambos at the foot of the Premiership table.

But County co-manager Kettlewell is well aware that the Northern Irish manager has not been an overnight success, and has been working to change Well’s style of play for the last year and a half.

“I’m not commenting on anybody’s future, but when you see reports this week it doesn’t surprise me that the likes of Stephen has been linked with other jobs,” Kettlewell said.

“Motherwell have been evolving and progressing over an 18-month period.

“I think you really saw a change when we played them in the Scottish Cup down there last season.

“They were trying to play a completely different way, and if memory serves me right I think they went on a very good run after we won that day."
