Stags to tour the north for pre-season

Ross Sutherland are heading north for their pre-season fixture list – including a historic match in Ullapool and a long-awaited return to Golspie.

The Stags returned to training this week, and the first matches of the new campaign are within sight.

First Ross Sutherland will travel to Orkney on Saturday, August 17, for the first senior team game there in a number of years.

The following week the club will host Caithness at Golspie in the first match held in Sutherland in more than a quarter of a century.

Lastly, John Mann’s men will head to the west coast when they play Stornoway in the first ever match in Ullapool.

The Stags head coach says a return to Sutherland has been in the pipeline for a while.

“We’re really looking forward to it, and we’re also going to try and get both teams to put firsts and seconds out on the day to make it a festival of rugby in Sutherland,” Mann explained.

“To my knowledge, it’s the first senior game of rugby in Golspie or Sutherland in 25-plus years."
