John Mann feels Ross Sutherland’s varied pre-season schedule will test his side ahead of the upcoming season.

The Stags returned to training this week, and will play their first friendly matches next month against Orkney, Caithness and Stornoway.

First up is a trip to Orkney on Saturday, August 17, and Mann is hoping that both sides will be using the match as an opportunity to blood youngsters.

“It should be good competition, they’ve just come down from the National leagues back into the Caledonian leagues,” he explained.

“They will be looking for a big performance, they’re planning on bouncing straight back up, so it should be a good game.

“Football is massive in Orkney, their internal league is pretty popular, so we’ve been trying to say to them to use it as a chance to blood in some of their younger boys.

“That’s what we’ll be using the game for. Hopefully they will be taking the same idea and we can make the most of the outing."
