Ross County defender Tom Grivosti has signed a short term loan deal with League Two outfit Elgin City.

The 22-year-old will play at Borough Briggs until January as he looks to step up his return from injury to play on a regular basis.

He had been making progress on the training pitch, but this move will help Grivosti take the next step by returning to senior football.

Malky Mackay seems confident that the versatile player has a future in Dingwall, but believes it would have been too much of a jump for him to go from practically 19 months on the sidelines to performing in the Scottish Premiership week in, week out.

"Tom is still only 22 and has had a dreadful time," Mackay said.

"Willie Nolan and Liam Jukes in our medical team have worked very well with Tom. In the last three months, it's almost been one-to-one treatment for Tom – he's lucky in that sense to have two diligent people who are trying to help him through this,

"Tom has worked hard over the past couple of months and has been back at training in the past few weeks.

"He needs to go on loan, Tom needs to go and play football. He is training well enough, but you can't be 19 months out and then be thrown back into the Scottish Premiership without having games.

"Between now and Christmas, he needs to go and get to a point where is body realises again that it plays football every week. He needs 90 minutes every weekend to get his career kicked on again."
