ST Duthus manager Stuart Ross is looking for his defence to improve after conceding the lead five times in the 5-5 draw against Orkney last week.

The Saints welcome Golspie Sutherland to Grant Park in North Caledonian League Division One tomorrow after taking just one point from their first two games.

Ross says he was stunned not to get their first league victory after being in front five times but content to take at least a point.

“It was like a school football game where there was a comedy of errors at both ends,” he said.

“It was a game which had everything, missed chances, missed penalties, good finishing and poor defending.

“It was end to end match, and it is disappointing to take the lead five times and not win the game.

“But where we are with our squad at the moment we are happy to take a point.

“But there was only 10 seconds left when Orkney equalised to make it 5-5, so it was a tough one to take.”

St Duthus will be missing a number of players for tomorrow’s clash with Golspie Sutherland.

Adam Macdonald, Scott Maclean, Scott Miller and John Skinner are all still with James Mackay a doubt.

But Ross Tokely and Barry Kenny will return to face Golspie who were thrashed 4-0 by Invergordon last weekend.

Ross says his team will have to prepare for a Golspie Sutherland backlash.

“They are a team who are also looking to get more points on the board so we have to be ready for the challenge,” said Ross.
