ROSS County chairman Roy MacGregor believes social distancing could impact on attendances at stadiums if still in place when football kicks off again.

His views came after he confirmed his club voted yes to SPFL recommendations to end the season for the Championship, League One and League Two, but to continue postponing the Premiership season.

However, the SPFL proposals have yet to be decided at the time of going to press, with Dundee still to cast their vote that will determine if the plans will be passed or rejected.

Speaking in a radio interview on Sunday, MacGregor says social distancing might still be in place when football restarts forcing attendances to be reduced and impact on corporate income.

”At Ross County, we have not gone on sale with season tickets,” he said.

“We believe with social distancing and having two metres around everyone, we might only get a tenth of our attendance into the stadium.

“We believe we won’t have corporate work and we have huge corporate business.

“If you can’t take people into corporate work, our income deficiency is into seven figures, that is a disaster for us.

“As we look ahead to next season, unless we have certainty and know what our budget is, we can’t plan ahead to sign players or tell season ticket holders only one in five will get a season ticket next year and be able to watch football.”
