Saturday, September 26 has been confirmed by the Camanachd Association for a return to local shinty fixtures for adults and children.

In addition, teams of all ages can start training again from Monday, August 24.

Shinty, as with most sports, was suspended on March 13 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

But the Camanachd Association also stressed the date was dependent on the situation with Covid-19.

Chief executive officer Derek Keir said: "As you would expect the date we can return to competition is an exciting one after such a tough period.

"However it is imperative from the moment clubs returns to training that we do all we can to implement and safely enforce the guidance provided by Scottish Government and ourselves. "

"Last night Beauly Shinty Club returned to youth training following guidance and other clubs have already returned their readiness guidance in preparation.

"This said I would like to remind all clubs that any shinty activity is only allowed subject to guidance which includes the club readiness criteria, risk assessments, participant insurance, COVID Coordinator in place and member consultation.

"All dates are subject to change in line with Scottish Government guidance."
