Two Ross-shire boxers returned from the Lonsdale Box Cup in Cumbria as champions.

Representing Highland Boxing Academy, John Duncan (Dingwall) beat the defending champion and competition favourite to win gold and claim the Lonsdale belt.

Ben Bartlett (Strathpeffer) had earlier become the club’s first champion of the weekend, knocking William Williamson from Kirkintilloch Boxing Club out in the first round of their bout.

Alness’s Ewan Gliniecki marginally missed out on making it three champions for HBA, as he came out on the wrong side of a split decision in his final.

Ewan Murray and Emily MacDonald from Inverness also lost at the final hurdle.

HBA head coach Liam Foy could not hide his happiness at the performance of his squad over the three days of competition.
