It was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Lennon and Airdrieonians had parted ways after just eight matches in charge.

Airdrieonians have yet to win a match in the Championship this season after 11 matches as they only have four points.

They are four points behind Ross County who are in ninth position. One of Airdrieonians’ points came against Ross County on the opening day of the season following a 2-2 draw at the Excelsior Stadium.

Lennon took charge on August 27 after Rhys McCabe resigned as player-manager.

In a brief statement, Airdrieonians wrote: “Airdrieonians FC confirms that it has parted company with manager Danny Lennon. We are grateful to Danny for his efforts during his time at the club.”

Ross County are set to face Dunfermline Athletic in their next match at Global Energy Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

They will look to bounce back following their 1-0 defeat at Partick Thistle last weekend.

Ross County have only won once this season.
