Ross County midfielder Harry Paton aiming to get back in Canada squad

Although there are no Premiership matches during the international break, some are hesitant to call it a week off because that often means plenty of hard work goes into training instead.
One Ross County player, though would have been hoping for a much busier time of it than he had.
Harry Paton had a hectic start to the campaign, playing in the Staggies’ pre-season friendly against Elgin City before travelling halfway around the world to join up with Canada’s Gold Cup squad.
Even once his competition ended, he rushed back to the Scottish Highlands to feature off the bench in County’s first Premiership match of the season against St Johnstone.
So last weekend’s international break would have felt slightly strange for Paton after missing out on the Canada squad, but he is aiming to get back into the fold as quickly as possible.
“July was a crazy month for me,” the 23-year-old recalled.
“I was unlucky with the Covid protocols we had here and I didn’t get my full cap and chance there, but I did train well with Canada and hopefully impressed the coaches.
“I was unlucky not to get into the side for the qualifiers for this international break. They brought a really strong squad out for those games.
“The Scottish Premiership is a high level and last season I got a lot of minutes under my belt. I was playing well and I just want to keep that up.
“I am going to get my head down and hopefully there will be another chance for Canada come the next international break.”
Paton will have another chance to impress the national selectors when Ross County travel to Celtic on Saturday in the Premiership.
The Staggies will be hoping to repeat their surprise victories over the Hoops last year that saw them beat the Glasgow giants home and away.
