Ross County were well off the pace in the first half, but they did have the first half-chance of the match.

Declan McManus cleverly played in the overlapping Don Cowie inside the box, but the experienced midfielder's shot was easily blocked.

The Nomads then took the lead in the 21st minute.

Keith Watson failed to clear a long ball, and Michael Bakare took full advantage to score, excellently finishing into the top corner from the edge of the box.

From there Connah's Quay took over.

Bakare took a corner that was flicked on by Adam Barton to George Horan in space, with the Nomads's captain's shot going just over the bar.

Ross Munro nearly gave the Welsh side another goal when he passed straight to striker Andy Owens inside his own box, but he reacted strongly to make a good save.

Bakare nearly grabbed a second in first half stoppage time, as his corner crashed back off the crossbar to safety.

But County came roaring back in the second half.

Josh Mullin's introduction changed the game, as the winger scored a double.

First, he was slipped in by Marcus Fraser, and managed to finish through John Danby from a narrow angle.

Then four minutes later he put the Staggies in front.

Van der Weg crossed in for Stewart, who was able to hold off his man and lay off Mullin on the edge of the box to finish.

Jamie Lindsay made it three with less than five minutes on the clock, when his shot was tipped into the corner by Danby.

That was enough for the Staggies to see out the game and lift the Irn-Bru Cup for the third time in their history.
