Motherwell 1 (Campbell)

Ross County 2 (Graham, Stewart)

Another late goal was enough for Ross County to take all three points from Fir Park as they beat Motherwell 2-1.

Although there were early chances for both sides, Motherwell looked comfortable with their lead until substitute Brian Graham found the net.

A home red card soon after turned the tide in County's favour, and Ross Stewart scored the winner in the 88th minute with a header.

It was a back and forth opening 45 minutes that saw both sides go close froms set-pieces early on.

First up it was the hosts, who after just seven minures saw Jake Carroll hit a free kick from 20 yards out inches over the bar.

But the Staggies immediately went up the other end and won a free kick themselves a minute later.

Ewan Henderson swing the ball in, and it was Billy Mckay who met it with his head going only just wide.

County had the next chance too from a corner, but Mckay did not connect perfectly with his overhead kick and it was an easy save for Mark Gillespie.

James Scott and Henderson each scuffed shots wide for their respective teams, but Liam Donnelly went much closer for Well with a dipping shot from distance.

The hosts would end the half in the ascendancy though, with Declan Gallagher finding the net only to find the referee had already stopped play for a foul, and Sherwin Seedorf hitting the side-netting right on the cusp of the interval.

Motherwell continued to be the better of the sides after the break too, and had a penalty shout waved away early soon after the restart.

The would eventually take the lead just after the hour mark, thanks to a well-worked move stemming from Devante Cole.

The forward broke free of a couple of defenders in the middle of the park and charged towards goal, looking like he was going to play a one-two with James Scott, who instead teed up Allan Campbell to find the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

County co-managers Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson responded by making a double change in midfield, with Joe Chalmers and Blair Spittal replacing Henderson and Harry Paton, but the new introductions could not immediately turn the tide.

Brian Graham would also later come on though, and he would make a very quick impact, scoring just three minute after coming on.

With so many attacking players on the park in the 75th minute, Michael Gardyne was able to move into a more central position, and when he dangerously ran towards the Motherwell goal he put the ball on a plate for Graham to find the bottom corner and equalise for the visitors.

If that would have given the 179 travelling Staggies hope, that was amplified all the more a couple of minutes later when Carroll was shows his second yellow card in a matter of minutes to reduce the hosts to 10 men.

Suddenly it was County who were pressing for a winner, having been trailing not long before.

And they would get their necks in front in the 88th minute, when Richard Foster brilliantly found space down the left wing and aimed a cross towards the back post, where Ross Stewart was there to head in from a tight angle.

Though Motherwell tried to get back into the game, there was no time left for them to make an impact and County were the ones celebrating when the final whistle eventually went.
