Ross County reinstated into the Women’s Scottish Cup after St Mirren thrown out to set up second round Bonnyrigg Rose clash

Ross County have been reinstated into the Women’s Scottish Cup after their conquerors were found to have fielded an ineligible player.

County had thought they were out of the competition after losing 4-0 to St Mirren in the first round earlier this month.

Two goals in each half had put the Highlanders to the sword, with Megan Murray, Hannah Coyle, Sam Montgomery and Lucy Don all finding the net.

However, St Mirren have been expelled from the competition after playing an ineligible player, meaning SWFL North outfit County have been handed a reprieve.

They will now take St Mirren’s place in the second round, meaning they have a home draw against Bonnyrigg Rose on November 3.

Bonnyrigg play in the same league as St Mirren, with both teams challenging for promotion from League One to the Championship.

Sitting one step below in the Scottish Women’s Football pyramid, County are yet to play their first league game of the season, but should return to action this Sunday away at Dyce.
