St Johnstone 3

Ross County 0

Scorers: Kimpioka (16, 45) Kirk (90).

Eli Campbell and Charlie Telfer were both sent off as Ross County went down to a disappointing defeat in Perth as they finished the game with nine men.

The Saints took the lead after 15 minutes when Benji Kimpioka fired home from close range.

The Staggies were down to 10 men after 31 minutes when Campbell was sent off after picking up his second yellow card for a poorly timed challenge.

Kimpioka doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time when he scored again.

Substitute Charlie Telfer only lasted four minutes on the pitch when he was sent off after receiving a straight red card for a straight leg tackle on Sven Sprangler.

St Johnstone wrapped up victory in injury time when Makenzie Kirk fired home from close range.

Manager Don Cowie was disappointed with the performance.

He said: “I was really disappointed with the scoreline and performance, It became really difficult going down to 10 men and to concede right on half time was the biggest disappointment of the game. I thought if we get in at 1-0, it would give us a chance to regroup and get back into it in the second half.”

“Speaking about reacting after the first red card, Cowie said: “It is not ideal, but it is part of football and you have to adapt and I thought we managed to do that in terms of keeping it 1-0. I would have liked to have seen it through at 1-0 so we could have changed it.

“We took a big travelling support and we let them down, we need to bounce back against Kilmarnock.”

Ross County remain in eighth place in the Premiership.
