Ross County will face Scottish Premiership opposition in the Betfred Cup group stage next season.

Ross County have been drawn alongside Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone in the group stage of the Betfred Cup.

The Staggies, who were second seeds for the draw, earned promotion back to the top flight as Championship winners last season.

County will also face the two losing sides in the Championship play-offs last season in the form of Forfar Athletic, who lost to Raith Rovers, and Montrose – who defeated Queen of the South in their first leg but were thrashed 5-0 in the second.

Brechin City, who suffered their second consecutive relegation last season, are the fifth team in the group.

The first round of matches will be played on the weekend of July 13.
