Ross County defender accused of breaking gambling rules

ROSS County defender Callum Semple has been charged with gambling on football matches over an eight-month period.

The 20-year-old has been issued with a notice of complaint alleging that he placed bets on football matches between Monday, July 1 and Friday, March 1.

Footballers in Scotland are not allowed to bet on football matches.

Semple was on loan from Sheffield United to Queen of the South between July and January.

He signed an 18-month permanent deal with Ross County during the January transfer window.

Ross County have been issued with a response date of Monday with a preliminary hearing set to take place on Thursday, March 28.
