Ross County confirm signing of Alex Iacovitti as defender returns to Dingwall following release from St Mirren

Ross County have confirmed the return of defender Alex Iacovitti on a one-year contract.

The 27-year-old previously signed for the Staggies in the summer of 2020, spending three seasons in Dingwall including being part of the top-six campaign in 2021/22.

Upon the expiration of his contract, Iacovitti would move south of the border, where he had been based for most of his career, to sign for Port Vale, before returning to Scotland to join St Mirren.

In Paisley, he played 23 matches and scored three goals, a tally that includes appearances in all four of the Buddies’ League Cup group games this season, before leaving the club by mutual consent.

Now though, he returns to a club where he will now look to add to the 116 appearances and 12 goals he scored first time around for Ross County.

Manager Don Cowie commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have brought Alex back to the football club.

“Having spent three years here in the Premiership, he brings a knowledge of the club and area, as well as a vast amount of playing experience.

“Alex was an integral part of a top-six finish here while I was the assistant manager, and I’m hoping he can contribute to more success for us.”

Iacovitti will once again wear the number 16 for County, and the club are optimistic he could make his second debut tonight against St Johnstone if clearance is received in time.
