The 32-year-old has made over 350 appearances in Scottish football, most recently captaining Dundee United to the Championship title in the 2023/24 campaign before continuing as the Tannadice side finished fourth in the Premiership last season.

Docherty has also played for Livingston, Airdrieonians, Ayr United and Partick Thistle in his career.

Staggies manager Don Cowie commented: “Ross is a fantastic addition to our club.

“He brings a wealth of experience in Scottish football and leadership skills, which have been a trademark throughout his career.

“We are delighted that Ross has chosen to join us.”

Docherty’s arrival follows the signings of Declan Gallagher and Gary Mackay-Steven.
