Now 29, the midfielder played a starring role for Airdrieonians in the Championship last season as Rhys McCabe’s men finished in the play-off places in their first season back in the second tier, having won promotion from League One in 2023.

Such was the level of Telfer’s performances, he was named the club’s player of the year and players’ player of the year.

His contract at the Excelsior Stadium expired at the end of the season though, and with Telfer keen to test himself in the Premiership once again he went on trial at Ross County over the last two, doing enough to earn a deal.

Staggies manager Don Cowie commented: “Charlie joins us on the back of an impressive season with Airdrieonians, gaining multiple accolades in the process.

“He is a creative midfielder who will excite supporters with the way he plays. He also has vast experience in Scottish football adding to the experience we already have in the dressing room.”
