Defending Strathpuffer 24 champion Marty Ross said he is looking to win his second Strathpuffer crown in record-breaking fashion.

The Maryburgh athlete realised a dream by winning his first title last year after being the only person to complete 25 laps of the Torrachilty Forest course, two more than his nearest rival.

But the 45-year-old offshore worker wants to be the first person in the event’s history to complete 29 laps of the eight-mile course.

“The record is 28 laps and my goal is to do 29 laps,” he said.

“But it will all depend what happens on the day.

“I will know how I’m feeling after the first two miles if it will be a good day or bad day.

“That is when I know how my legs are feeling, but I am ready to go and I am counting down the hours to the start.

“I am quietly confident and there will be a couple of guys who will give me a race, but Strathpuffer is a different animal to any other race and I will be going for it.”
