A DINGWALL youngster has been called up to the Great Britain team for a prestigious kickboxing championship later this year.

Ollie Schofield (10) will compete in the World Association Kickboxing Organisation European Championships in Hungary this August, after medalling in every WAKO tournament he has entered this year.

Schofield trains in Inverness at Raijin Martial Arts, and he will be joined in Hungary by teammate Aidan Lennan (11).

The duo earned their places in the squad by medalling at the Great Britain Open in February, and then impressing at subsequent GB training camps.

So with an impressive track record behind them, they will be confident going into their highest-profile competition yet – according to Ollie’s dad Paul.

“At the end of the day, in each weight category you’re trying to get to the top of the tree,” Paul explained.
