Ross County Athletics Club pole vaulter Andrew McFarlane is confident he can reach new heights in his career.

The 18-year-old claimed gold at the National Indoor Age Group Championships in Glasgow with a winning height of 4m 50cm.

The Charleston Academy sixth year pupil is also in action this week at the Scottish Schools Championships where he is also looking to reach further success.

Currently ranked second at under-20 level in the UK and within the top-30 in Europe, the Inverness athlete says he is aiming for selection in the Scotland Squad at the Commonwealth Games in three years time.

“The next closest reachable target would be the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022,” he said.
