The win followed up their 1-0 victory at home against Motherwell as manager Stuart Kettlewell watched his team continue their perfect start.

Kettlewell kept faith with the same starting 11 that beat Motherwell as they looked to kick on.

Ross County had a golden chance to take the lead in the eighth minute when Harry Paton’s cross from the left wing found Lee Erwin unchallenged in the six-yard box, but he fired the ball straight at goalkeeper Ryan Fulton.

The Staggies went close again as Erwin nearly connected with McKay's cross from close range, but hit his knee against the right post instead, but he was fine to continue.

Hamilton didn’t threaten until the half-hour mark as Callum Smith burst into the box to latch on to Scott Martin's pass.

His powerful low drive towards the bottom left corner of the net was comfortably saved by Ross Laidlaw.

Laidlaw was alert to producing another good save as he got low to deny Smith's shot from 10-yards finding the bottom left corner of the net to keep the game goalless.

Ross County had a great chance to take the lead on the hour mark, McKay’s cross from the left wing found Connor Randall in the box who laid the ball off to Ross Stewart who from eight yards out hit the right post.

With 20 minutes remaining substitute Josh Mullin sent a cross down the right wing which was diverted into the box by Jordan Tillson which just evaded Michael Gardyne getting a connection as Fulton punched the ball against his body before gathering.

But Ross County broke the deadlock 14 minutes from time as Iain Vigurs' cross into the box was fumbled by Fulton leading to a scramble before the ball found its way to Billy McKay who fired home from 10 yards which proved to be the winner.
