Lewis Spence thinks Ross County have to forget about recent defeats and re-focus on getting a crucial three points at Hamilton tomorrow.

The Staggies have now gone five matches without a win in the Premiership, with three draws punctuated by a 6-0 defeat away at Celtic and a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Rangers mid-week.

Hamilton were one of the pre-season favourites for the drop though, alongside County, so games like tomorrow’s are more likely to be decisive come the end of the season.

“Those are really big games for us against teams round about us,” Spence said.

“If we can take care of those games then we should be fine.

“Rangers and Celtic are hit and miss, but we wanted to give a better account of ourselves and have a right go at them.

“You want to make it difficult for them, stay in the game as long as you can, but if you’re passive like we have been at times it’s going to be hard.

“It’s a big game now on Saturday, we need to brush ourselves off in training and get ourselves ready for Hamilton.”

Spence only returned to action as a substitute in the Celtic game after missing the start of the season with an arm injury.

He spent the best part of four months on the sidelines, so even though he is yet to taste victory since his comeback there is a part of him just relieved to be playing.

“Obviously I missed all of pre-season and all the games at the start,” he said.

“It takes a bit of time to speed up, but I’m back in now and I just need to keep getting my sharpness up.

“I’m nearly there, the more games I play the fitter and sharper I’m going to get.

“I’m feeling good, it maybe didn’t show on Wednesday but I’m happy to be back and in the mix.”
