Nairn County have signed Ross County defender Ali Morrison on a loan deal until the end of 2024

The 17-year-old centre back has gone to Station Park in a bid to get some senior game time.

Morrison was the captain of the Ross County team which lost to Nairn County in the North of Scotland Cup Final 5-4 last season.

He was also on loan last season when he played at Brora Rangers.

Manager Ross Tokely says he is pleased to capture Morrison’s signature as he aims to bolster their defence.

He said: "Ali is a young player but has a bit of Highland League experience from last season. Despite his young age, he has a lot of attributes required to succeed as a defender in the Highland League - he is the sort of player we want in the team and I am delighted that he will be joining us on loan.

"Ali is comfortable on the ball and has been brought through at Ross County playing the right way. He has good height and strength and we will be looking for him to do the basics defensively and helping us to build the play from the back.

"It gives us another option at the back - we needed another out-and-out centre half and bringing Ali to the club gives us that option.

"I would like to thank Ross County for allowing Ali to join us on loan and we are looking forward to working with him and helping him with his development over the next six months."
