The Munlochy athlete was given the award which recognises the sporting excellence of the university's students and alumni.

Konkel (26) completed a HNC in social care at Inverness College UHI in 2012 when she was selected into the Scotland Women’s Under-20 squad.

Having previously played for Inverness Craig Dunain, Highland, along with Hillhead Jordanhill in Glasgow, and a full season in the Top 8 French Championship where she was shortlisted in the top three for ‘Best Player in the Top 8’, Konkel now plays for English Premiership club Harlequins.

The former Fortrose Academy pupil made her Scotland debut against England when she came on as a replacement in the opening 2013 Six Nations match.

She has gone on to win 43 caps for her country and scored nine tries.
