Munlochy athlete successfully defends British Discus Championship in Manchester with best ever throw

Munlochy athlete Kirsty Law has become British discus champion for the second time after throwing a personal best at Manchester tonight.

The Inverness Harrier clinched the title with her final attempt when she threw 57 metres 95 centimetres, beating her previous best by 16 centimetres.

Her training partner Jade Lalley was leading the championship with a throw of 55 metres 13 centimetres until the final round.

But Law, a 12-time Scottish champion, produced a giant throw with Lalley's last attempt reaching 57 metres 20 centimetres.
