Mckay has now scored five goals in his last four games.

The Dons broke the deadlock on the half hour mark when Cosgrove beat the Staggies’ defence in the air to nod Campbell’s corner down in the six yard box to give Main a tap-in.

The Staggies took advantage by drawing level just before half time when Richard Foster’s cross from the left wing found Mckay who beat the Dons defence in the air to nod the ball past Joe Lewis into the bottom left corner.

Ross County had a golden chance in the second half when Scott McKenna gave the ball away and Mckay pounced with only the goalkeeper to beat.

But his shot was saved by Lewis. Lee Erwin followed up with the rebound but his shot was also saved by Lewis.

Ross Laidlaw then made a double save at the other end, first from Lewis Ferguson from 25 yards then from Niall McGinn to force a corner.

Staggies searched for a winner late in the game when from 20 yards out Josh Mullin forced a fantastic save from Joe Lewis.
