Ross Sutherland head coach John Mann is targeting five wins in the second half of the season to make sure his side stays well clear of relegation.

Pre-season optimism has once again given way to disappointing results in the early going for the notorious slow-starters, but the Stags have slid further down the table than they may have been expecting.

With a high turnover of players and a new crop of youngsters bedding in, there was always going to be a transition period, but Ross Sutherland sit at the bottom of Caledonia North Two, four points adrift of Banff.

To make matters worse, Mann’s side missed an opportunity to overtake Banff last weekend, when they fell to a 19-14 defeat at the Duff House playing fields.

Matches do not start coming any easier either, with a trip to defending champions Highland 2nds in Inverness next on the schedule one week from tomorrow.
