Ross County manager starting to see something following victory over Dunfermline Athletic in Dingwall
MANAGER Tony Docherty says Ross County are beginning to ‘look like a team’ as they came back from throwing a two-goal lead away to defeat Dunfermline Athletic in Dingwall.
The Staggies stormed into a 2-0 lead in the first three minutes with goals from Scott Fraser and Jordan White and controlled the first half. But Andrew Tod pulled one back on the stroke of half time before Barney Stewart equalised early in the second half.
But Ross County responded well and retook the lead midway through the second half through Ronan Hale which turned to be the winner in a 3-2 victory.
It is the second league win of the season and second consecutive home victory following their 2-0 win over Raith Rovers earlier this month.
Docherty says the way they started the game and showed character to regain the lead shows how the team are gelling together after a poor start to the campaign.
He said: “I am hugely pleased with that as there are certain ways to win a football match and we displayed every part of that today. We are beginning to look like a team.
“The way we started the game with two brilliant goals, we applied pressure and were very aggressive and that was the message to be against Dunfermline as they are the form team at the moment. They come up here with a 6-0 aggregate from their two games in a week.
“We had to be aggressive and Jordan White played a huge part in that. When the momentum swings and Dunfermline get their two goals from two shots on target, one was a scramble, questions were asked of the squad and it makes me proud.
“I am beginning to see a team form, we showed a calmness, assuredness and experience in the team and the energy of the young ones came together and it was a deserved win.”

The victory moved Ross County up to seventh place in the table as they climbed above Greenock Morton in eighth and Queen’s Park in ninth following today’s results.
Docherty says Ross County are a club who have been known to relying on good form at home and is looking for more positive results at the Global Energy Stadium this season.
He said: “This is a football club that is built traditionally on home form.
“The reaction I got from the fans really helped us win that game like they did against Raith Rovers. Hopefully they can come to the next home game and we can get through this together as the home form will be massive for us this season.
“If we can maintain that home form and pick up points then we won’t be far away.”
