Malky Mackay has confirmed that two of the three injuries Ross County picked up in their 1–1 draw away at Aberdeen last weekend are not serious, while the full extent of one is still to be determined.

David Cancola, Regan Charles-Cook and Connor Randall were all forced off at Pittodrie last weekend, and there is relatively good news on the first two.

For Charles-Cook, who opened his account for the season by putting the Staggies ahead, it was nothing more than cramp and he has already returned to training.

Cancola's issue – confirmed as a groin tweak – will keep him out for a couple of weeks, but with the international break this week there is an outside chance he could return to face Celtic on September 11.

Exactly how serious full back Randall's ankle knock is, however, is still unknown. The former Hearts player has been sent for a scan, and County are awaiting the results.

Mackay also revealed that Jake Vokins and Jack Burroughs, both of whom picked up injuries soon after moving to Dingwall, are progressing well on their comebacks.

One man who will not be available any longer for County is Oli Shaw, who completed a deadline day transfer to Kilmarnock, with the Staggies bringing in Alex Samuel from Wycombe Wanderers to bolster the forward line.

"You have to hold your nerve over a period of weeks when you are trying to get players and their clubs are trying to get someone in as well," Mackay explained.

"I’d have loved to have got Alex and Jack Baldwin in four weeks ago but four weeks ago they weren’t available.

"There were a host of clubs queuing up for Oli Shaw and it wasn’t right for us to let him go at that point whereas in the last couple of days it was the right thing to do with Alex Samuel coming in. You’ve got to be clued in and know where a lot of chess pieces are sitting.

"We had a good conversation with Wycombe and with the agent and Alex and to get a player in with bags of experience of English football and who played in a play-off final, I’ll take that all day long.

"Oli is a terrific young man and I wish him all the best at Kilmarnock. He needs to go and play every week and get his career moving. He has been a credit to this football club and, even over the last week or two, he's been an absolute credit and I hope it goes well for him."
