Jack Baldwin says the heavy 4–0 defeat to Celtic could be a positive kick up the backside for Ross County going into the final two games before the split.

The Staggies were no match for the league leaders, falling 3–0 behind after 28 minutes before Kayne Ramsay was sent off on the half hour mark.

The result saw Ross County drop out of the top six to seventh in the Premiership, but only one point behind Hibernian in fifth and Livingston in sixth.

After a recent run of good form, defender Baldwin says the result was a reminder that the job this season is not done.

With their final two games at home to Hearts and away to Aberdeen before the split, Baldwin says they need to learn from Celtic Park.

“We are in a great position going into the last two games which we are looking to take points from,” he said.

“Off the back of the results we had, a result like Celtic can give us a kick up the backside to tell us we still have a lot of work to do.

“We can’t take anything for granted and we still have to do the basics, day in and day out.

“We have to take on board the messages that the gaffer is giving us, if we do that, we put ourselves in a great position.”

Baldwin says there was no shame in losing at Celtic, but was disappointed with the manner of the defeat and conceding three goals so quickly.

“We gave ourselves an uphill battle so early on,” he said.

“We knew the threat that Celtic possessed when we came here, but to concede the way we did was very frustrating.

“We knew they would have a lot of possession, but to concede the goals through set pieces and second phases and crosses into the box was frustrating.”

He added: “When you come to places like this, you need to give yourself every chance.

“In the end we gave ourselves an uphill battle early in the game which was extremely frustrating.”
