Lochcarron advance in Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup

LOCHCARRON advanced to the third round of the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Inveraray.

Ross Brown’s hat trick was supplemented by a goal from Kenny Cushnie in a game which also saw David MacCuish sent off.

Also advancing were Newtonmore, who crushed Kyles Athletic 10-2, Fort William who beat Glenurquhart and Ballachullish who overcame Kingussie. Beauly were overcome 5-1 by Lovat. Lochaber went through with a drubbing of Kilmallie. Lochside Rovers will also contest the next round.

In the Orion Premiership, there were wins for Lovat, Newtonmore, Kingussie and Glenurqhuart. It’s tight at the top of the league with Newtonmore and Inveraray on 11 points trailed by Lovat (10), Kyles (8) and Kingussie (8). Kinlochshiel lie seventh (6).

In the Marine Harvest North Division 1, Caberfeidh put three past table-toppers Kilmallie – who scored five. Lee Nicol, Blair Morrison and Ali MacLennan found the net for Caberfeidh.

Inverness were on the end of a 1-9 hammering by Beauly while Skye beat basement battlers Strathglass. Caberfeidh sit fourth, eight points off the pace-setters.

In marine Harvest North Division 2, ninth-placed Kinlochshiel battled out a 2-2 draw at Aberdeen University. Donald Nixon and Aedan MacRae got the goals for Shiel.

In Marine Harvest North Division 3, Caberfeidh registered a 3-1 victory over Inverness. Lochbroom notched a 6-2 victory at Strathspey (6-2). Lochbroom’s scorers were Ian Fraser (3), Steven Bellshaw, Sandy Urquhart and Jamie MacFadyen.
