Ross County move up to ninth place in Premiership as late winner against Kilmarnock sees the Staggies go four games undefeated

Ross County moved 10 points clear of bottom spot and stay out of the Premiership relegation zone as they beat Kilmarnock 1-0 at Rugby Park.
George Harmon scored the winner five minutes from time to give the Staggies their third successive away win and move up to ninth place in the table on 25 points.
The Staggies have now gone four games undefeated following today’s win in Ayrshire. Ross County have leapfrogged Kilmarnock who are now in 10th place on 24 points, with Hearts 11th on 23 points following their 1-0 win at Dundee United.
St Johnstone lost 3-1 against Dundee in Perth today as they remain rock bottom on 15 points.
Defenders Ryan Leak and Michee Efete both picked up injuries against Aberdeen and they were replaced by Jack Grieves and George Harmon.
Denholm suffered an injury in Ross County’s 3-0 win at Dundee on Boxing Day which was their first win in the Premiership for 481 days.
Ross County were looking to extend their unbeaten run to four matches with seven points from their previous three matches. As well as wins at Dundee and Aberdeen, they came from two goals down in injury time to draw 2-2 with Hearts in Dingwall in their final game of 2024.
Ross County created chances to take the lead in the first half. Josh Nisbet came close after 11 minutes but saw his effort well saved by Kilmarnock goalkeeper Josh McCrorie.
The Staggies had another great chance on the half hour mark when Connor Rendall’s curling effort was tipped over the bar by McCrorie as both teams went into the break goalless.
Neither team created many chances in the second half. But Harmon grabbed the winner in the 85th minute when he fired home from close range to give them all three points.
Ross County face Celtic at the Global Energy Stadium in Dingwall on Saturday, January 11 before taking on Livingston in Dingwall in the Scottish Cup fourth round on Saturday, January 18.
