Hearts fightback proves Ross County are continuing to fight to ‘punch above their weight’ to keep Premiership football in Dingwall, says wing back George Harmon
George Harmon says Ross County’s fightback against Hearts is typical of the ethos he has felt since moving to Dingwall.
A summer 2022 arrival, the 24-year-old has experienced many late goals with the Staggies – as well as two play-off escapes in the last two seasons to preserve their top-flight status.
That resilience was needed once again last Sunday, with County 2-0 behind to Hearts deep into stoppage time.
However, last-gasp strikes from Josh Nisbet and Jordan White salvaged a point for the Highlanders, and Harmon says it felt like County had claimed victory such were the circumstances of their revival.
“It just shows the fight we have in the team,” he stressed.
“We probably haven’t shown it as much as we would have liked this season, but the lads dug in.
“Sometimes, the game didn’t go our way but we scored the two goals late on and never gave up, which is a really positive aspect for us.

“Since I’ve joined the club, I’ve seen that it has always been in Ross County Football Club’s ethos to have that fight and belief.
“We’re always punching above our weight, but we’ve matched Hearts on Sunday and got a good point. It almost feels like a win, given how late we left it.”
Next up for County will be a trip to struggling Aberdeen on January 2.
It is a chance for the Staggies to continue building their form on the road, having ended a 15-month hoodoo away from home against Dundee on Boxing Day.
Harmon, then, says he and his teammates will be looking to kick on to start 2025 in style.
“Getting four points from the last two games is really good, especially getting that win away from home,” he added.
“It takes the pressure off a little bit because there was a lot of outside noise about this away run.
“We tried to keep away from that in the changing room and we haven’t really thought about it too much, just taking it game-by-game.
“It was nice to get those three points and we move on to Aberdeen now and hopefully we can replicate it again.
“We want to build momentum now and get some points on the board. If you can bring a run together in this league you can move up the table really quickly.
“It was a good point against Hearts and we go to Aberdeen now believing we can take the three points.
“We need to try and start better than we did against Hearts and take it on from there.”
