Finlay MacRae says Kinlochshiel’s 2020 vision is to be among the top shinty clubs again after a disappointing 2019.

The Reraig outfit finished in the bottom half of the Premiership for the first time since 2015, ending the campaign in sixth place.

The 34-year-old full-centre says the squad know that last season wasn’t good enough after winning the Premiership in 2017 and the Macaulay Cup in 2018.

But as they prepare for the new season with a friendly against Fort William tomorrow, MacRae is confident they can improve from performances last year.

“We underperformed as it was a disappointing year for us all,” he said.

“It wasn’t good enough.

“We had a few injuries in what was a small squad at the start and we struggled to recover from that.

“It did get better as the season went on, but it was a bad year and we have not had one of them in a while.”

He added: “Hopefully that was our one to get it out of the way.

“This season we will look to hit the ground running.”
