INVERGORDON manager Gary Campbell is hoping lightning does not strike twice when he takes his table-topping side to play Inverness Athletic at Inverness Royal Academy on Saturday.

Athletic defeated Invergordon 3–1 in a cup tie at the Recreation Grounds back in December.

Although the Easter Ross side have gone on a five-match winning run since then the Invergordon boss is not taking anything for granted.

“We are conscious of the fact they beat us the last time we played them,” he said.

“We will have to do a lot better then we did on that occasion.

“But we have been on a good run – long may it continue.

“Inverness have been a bit up and down this season but we will need to be careful.

“They are used to playing on a 3G pitch.

“But we need the points if we are to do well this season.”

Invergordon, like most of the teams in North Caledonian league have been out of action over the past couple of weeks, but Campbell feels his side are in good condition going into the match.

“It’s not ideal being without a game for two weeks but we’ve trained well and are looking forward to Saturday’s game,” he added.

Invergordon’s North Caledonian Cup quarter final tie against Halkirk United was postponed last week.

They are expected to be at full strength for the match against Athletic.

Athletic manager Jason Golabek will be without top scorer Phil MacDonald, who is in Australia until the end of the month.

The other quarter final tie between Orkney and Golspie Sutherland also fell victim to the weather.

While the first round tie between Thurso and Invergordon was also called off on Saturday morning.

Bunillidh Thistle defeated Bonar Bridge 6–1 in the league – the only match to get the go ahead.

The fixture was switched from Couper Park to the more sheltered Meadows in Dornoch to ensure it went ahead.

St Duthus will be hoping for better weather when they head to Helmsdale on Saturday to play Bunillidh Thistle on league business.
