Invergordon teenager wins bronze for Scotland at major hill running event

INVERGORDON teenager Lachlan Thomas claimed a bronze medal when he competed for Scotland at the Junior Home Country International in Ireland

The Ross County Athletics Club athlete finished in third place in the under-17 men’s hill race which took place in Wicklow in the Republic of Ireland.

It was another excellent performance from the Invergordon Academy pupil who is now making an impression on the international stage as well as in Scotland.

Thomas was one of 16 youngsters selected to compete for Scotland at the competition which took place last weekend.

He was the fastest Scottish athlete in his race with Alasdair McLean running strongly to finish sixth followed by Ben Hodson 14th and Dan McGuire 16th.

Scotland finished second overall in the race behind winners England with Wales in third place.

Thomas is no stranger to success having won the Inverness 5k back in March setting the fastest time in 10 years with a time of 15 minutes and 40 seconds. It is the second time that he has won the event.
