Invergordon manager Gary Campbell says his team have to start scoring more goals if they are to be contenders to win the North Caledonian League this season.

Last season’s runners-up are undefeated so far in the league, having won three out of five games so far.

But Campbell says his team are not finding the net enough which has cost them points.

Invergordon’s two draws included a 1–1 draw at Bonar Bridge and also a 1–1 draw against St Duthus in the Ross-shire derby earlier this month.

Invergordon are only two points off league leaders Halkirk United and could go top this weekend if they beat Nairn County A and other results go their way.

But Campbell is calling for his players to be more ruthless in front of goal if they are to challenge to win the league this season.

“We haven’t been beaten in the league yet, but we could be doing better,” said Campbell.

“We have not scored enough goals or as much as I would like.

“Hopefully things will click and we can get things right.

“But at the moment we are not scoring goals and we are not winning games convincingly enough.”

Campbell says with only five points separating the top six teams, it could be the closest championship in years.

“It is very tight at the moment and everyone is capable of beating each other.

“It is good for the league, but maybe not so good for us.”
Invergordon face Nairn County A at Recreation Park tomorrow and played them in a pre-season friendly in the summer.

Campbell doesn’t know too much about their opponents but said their results have been impressive.

“In pre-season they looked decent and it was a tight game.

“I expect it will be the same on Saturday, but every game is going to be tight just now. We need to play at our best if we are going to get a result.”
