INVERGORDON are hoping it will be the third time lucky for them when they face North Caledonian League leaders St Duthus at the Recreation Grounds tomorrow.

Having already lost twice to their county rivals this season, Invergordon are desperate to break that sequence and mark a victory of their own on the board.

It would be a nice bonus for Invergordon, who could go level pegging with Saints at the top of the table with a game in hand if they win three points.

But Invergordon manager, Gary Campbell knows his side will need to produce something special if they are to finally topple the on-form Saints.

“They have being going really well and we will need to be at our best to beat them,” said Campbell.

“But if we want to go on and win the league we need to win games like this – we can’t afford to drop too many points behind them.”

The Invergordon manager will be re-assured by his side’s last outing, which saw them convincingly beat Lewis and Harris 5–1 in a group stage match in the Football Times Cup at Ullapool.

“We played well that day,” said Campbell.

“We will need to repeat that level of performance if we are to have a chance of winning.”

Invergordon have been boosted by two new signings.

Russell MacIntyre and Callum Gow have both made the switch from Inverness Athletic, while tricky winger Iain Ross has re-joined the club.

St Duthus, who are on a five-match winning run, welcome back Scott Miller for the Ross derby and manager Stuart Ross is looking for more of the same from his side.

“The boys enjoyed a well-earned rest last week,” he said,

“But the players have trained twice over the festive period and can’t wait to get back in action.”

In the other league match, struggling Bonar Bridge host Orkney at Migdale Park, while Inverness Athletic are idle.

In the north section of the Football Times Cup, Golspie Sutherland, who have already qualified for the final, welcome Bunillidh Thistle to King George V Park.

Halkirk United face Caithness rivals Thurso clash in the other group match at Morrison Park.
