Invergordon failed to reclaim top spot in North Caledonian League Division One after being held to a goalless draw at home against leaders Golspie Sutherland.
Golspie stay one point ahead of second placed Invergordon and know victory in their final two games, both against Orkney, will give them their 11th North Caledonian League title.
Invergordon play Thurso twice in their final two games and are heading to Caithness next week.
They need at least one victory and for other results to go their way to have any chance of winning their first title since 2017.
Invergordon could have taken the lead early on, when Aaron Christie's free kick cleverly rolled past the defensive wall for Shaun Kerr to run on to with only goalkeeper Cameron Yuill to beat from eight yards. But he fired wide.
Golspie's best chances came in the first half, with Shaun Urquhart going close forcing a fine save from Steven Martin who parried his thunderous shot out for a corner.
Moments later, Sam Mackay’s cross from left wing found Sean Munro’s header which went inches over the bar from close range.
Craig Ross also went close when he connected with Blair Duncan's cross, but his header went wide of the right post.
Invergordon created the best chances to win the game after the break. Midway through the second half, Munro fluffed a clearance and his header landed straight to Shaun Kerr who only had the goalkeeper to beat, but he fired straight at Yuill.
The Golspie goalkeeper saved a point for his team in the closing minutes when he pulled off an excellent save to deny Scott Houston's header finding the net.
