THE North Caledonian League 2020/21 season will resume tomorrow after being suspended for five months.
The competition was put on hold in December due to the rising number of cases of Covid-19 in Scotland, one month before all football in the country below Championship level was suspended.
Restrictions on football being played without PCR testing were lifted on Monday, as teams are now preparing to complete the season.
Division One league leaders Invergordon will look to extend their advantage to four points with a victory at Orkney tomorrow.
Manager Gary Campbell’s men are undefeated in the league this season, having only failed to win one of their five games so far.
They also have a game in hand on nearest challengers Golspie Sutherland who are one point behind and do not restart their campaign until next weekend when they travel to Caithness to face Halkirk United.
Elsewhere in Division One, Thurso have an outside chance of winning the title if they win their last five games, starting with victory in the Caithness derby against Halkirk United tomorrow.
Thurso’s final two games are against Invergordon and if they beat Halkirk, Orkney and St Duthus, both victories in the double header against Invergordon could give the Vikings the title.
Tomorrow’s other game sees Inverness outfit Loch Ness travel to north-west Sutherland to face Scourie who have yet to register a point this season.
Tain outfit St Duthus restart their campaign next weekend when they host Invergordon in the Ross derby at Grant Park.
Meanwhile, in Division Two, Alness United will look to win the title starting next weekend against Scourie at Dalmore Park.
Three points would mean they only require victory against Inverness Athletic four days later to win the title.
