Ross County captain Connor Randall says Staggies squad are determined to secure Premiership safety for injured teammates
Ross County club captain Connor Randall says the Staggies squad need to step up in the absence of injured players and make sure to deliver top flight football to them on their returns.
County have generally had a good record in the treatment room this season, but have lost some important players to long-term injuries all the same.
Ryan Leak has missed half of the campaign with an Achilles issue, while Noah Chilvers is unlikely to play again in 2025 with a ruptured cruciate ligament.
Andrew Macleod is also due to miss the rest of the season, but despite those absences Randall is confident there is more than enough ability in the Dingwall outfit to keep the club in the Premiership.
He says that those injured players are providing some motivation for those who are available to go and make sure they get the job done in the closing weeks of the campaign as the Staggies try to avoid a third relegation play-off in-a-row.
“The performances haven’t been what we want them to be of late, but it will never be for a lack of effort,” Randall reasoned.
“We’ve lost a player like Noah Chilvers, who is a spark and can make something happen out of nothing. He’s a massive miss, but everyone else has to step up now and maybe create chances in a different way.
“We’ve got more than enough quality in the squad to step up. Injuries happen in football, and to lads who have worked hard for us all season, so we have to fight for them as well.
“It’s time for us to step up to the plate. There’s no time to think we’ve still got other chances, so we have to go out there and back up our words.
“We say it all the time about Ross County – it is unique in that the majority of people are a long way from home. There is a closeness and togetherness that keeps this club going.
“Chilvers and Leak are lads who have given everything for this group throughout the season, so of course we want to do it for them.
“We want to do it for ourselves too, and the fans, and everyone who works for this club. We are all on the same page and pushing to achieve the same thing.
“I can sit here all day and say ‘we stick together and we go again’, but we have to deliver that on Saturday and hopefully people see we’re giving everything we’ve got.”
