NORTH Caledonian League outfit St Duthus have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Steven Martin.
The 33-year-old returns to the Tain club from Highland League champions Brora Rangers.
He also played for Clachnacuddin during a two-year spell in the Highland League.
The Tain native was the first signing made by the newly appointed St Duthus management team of Stuart and Andrew Ross back in July 2016, as he quickly asserted himself as a key member of the team.
Having been a regular fixture for Saints between 2016 and 2018. he played 41 competitive games, keeping five clean sheets.
In March 2018 he reaped the on-the-field rewards when he collected a North Caledonian Cup winners medal for his part in the Saints’ 3-1 win over Golspie Sutherland to win the cup for the first time since 1990.
Manager Stuart Ross confirmed his delight at the signing this week.
“Steven, of course, is a player we know well at St Duthus,” he said.
It’s great to be able to welcome him back into the fold. In Steven, we have a goalkeeper who brings with him a wealth of senior football experience.
“Between himself and Johnny Allan, we now have two fantastic goalkeepers with great ability who we can trust at our disposal.”
St Duthus will play in the North Caledonian League first division along with Invergordon next season. No date has been set for the season to start, but officials hope for October.
