Gliniecki after second Hull Box Cup title

Alness teenager Ewan Gliniecki will travel to Hull this weekend looking to win his second International Box Cup title in three years.

The 13-year-old, representing Highland Boxing Academy, took home the gold medal on his debut appearance there in 2017 after winning three fights in three days.

Gliniecki will be part of a trio of HBA fighters that head coach Liam Foy hopes will all be able to win their categories.

But Foy knows that, even with Gliniecki’s track record, it will not be plain sailing in Yorkshire.

“We’re looking at his category and, like Ewan, there are really good competitors in the division,” Foy explained.

“It’s going to be highly competitive for him, but he has boxed his way through this tournament before over three days, winning all three fights to take the title.

“He’s got the pedigree and the experience to do that, and that’s what we’re expecting.”
